July 24th Weekend

The 24th of July is celebrated as Pioneer Day and it is also the weekend that Spanish Fork has their Fiesta Days celebrations.
On Friday evening we took the boys to ride some carnival rides. We bought their tickets and told them they could each ride 5 rides.

They both loved this roller coaster and it was so fun to watch them!

They also rode an airplane ride which was way lame. They were supposed to be able to maneuver it up and down but Asher couldn't push the button hard enough and Rylan's was broken. Boo!
For their last ride they split up. First Asher got to ride this pirate ride and he had soooo much fun...
...until Rylan got to ride the roller coaster again but Asher didn't get to go since he used his last tickets.
We had warned him that he wouldn't be able to ride the roller coaster with Ry but he said over and over again he wanted the pirate ride. And he really did have so much fun that I was sad his night ended with sadness instead of that super fun ride! But Ry had fun again on the roller coaster so at least one boy left happy!!
We walked around the library park where they had a car show, food, and vendors. We shared a lemonade that was gone after one sip. Seriously. A $5 sip of lemonade and a cup full of ice. So Kev took it back and insisted on a free refill! They filled it up again...so he got one more sip :)

Monday morning Kevin left for work and I made a last minute decision to walk the boys up to Main Street for the parade. I remember parades when I was little and we'd be so excited for the candy. That's the purpose of a parade, right? Not these days. One float handed out taffy to the three kids sitting closest. I was disappointed for my boys and they were bored after the fire engines and tractor drove by.

After the parade we joined the rest of the city at the park and played until we got hungry. I intended to just buy lunch there but the boys weren't excited about anything so we walked home and had sandwiches!
And that was our celebration! It's always fun to celebrate something and our pioneer heritage definitely deserves a celebration :)
