Rylan
(January 7, 2012)
"Cool, it's one hundred o'clock!" (1:00)
(January 15, 2012)
Ry: "Dad, you know who I'm gonna marry? Camryn."
I just love that my kids have cousins their age to play with and be friends with. Of course we had to correct Rylan and tell him that he'll have to choose someone else...not his cousin :)
(January 21, 2012)
Me: "Ry, I can't believe you are a kindergartener. You're growing up too fast."
Ry: "Do you want me to stop growing?"
Me: "Yes, will you?"
Ry: "Never!"
(January 31, 2012)
"Pizzazz is such a funny word!"
Asher
(January 9, 2012)
"Baby Tyce's teeth are growed up. I see them!"
(January 17, 2012)
"Hop to it!"
(January 27, 2012)
"If I'm on daddy's shoulders, I'm big. If I'm on your shoulders, I'm big. If you get on my shoulders, I'm not strong."
Asher: "Who gets their shoes on first, wins."
As I was tying my running shoes, "I win!"
Asher: "No, not racing shoes."
Yep, he knows me and my speed :)
(January 28, 2012)
Asher seems to always be walking around with one sock on, one sock off, or even one shoe on one shoe off. I try to get him to keep his socks on to keep his little toes warm. Today he said "Mom I'm taking my socks off 'cause I like cold feet"!
(January 31, 2012)
Rylan makes everything a race. The only thing is, he makes it so he wins. "The first one in the house, wins!"...and then he'll see that he's actually going to be the second one in the house so he'll say "I mean, the Second one in the house, wins". For the most part, the rest of us don't even play along anymore and Asher has created his own version. But today as we got in the car Asher said "Hey, I know, how about we are all winners?!"

Yesterday...Tyce woke up at 5:00 and while I was feeding him I knew I should be mentally preparing to go to the gym. But I went to bed with a headache and my head was still POUNDING so I opted for some ibuprofen and a few extra hours of sleep. When I woke up later my head still hurt but it was feeling much better so I was happy with my decision :)
I got Kev's lunch ready so he could go to work then I got Rylan ready for school with some help from Kevin. I started to feed Tyce when I realized I hadn't laid out Ry's clothes so I halfway directed Kevin and he got it done.
After taking Ry to school we came home and I turned the tv on for Asher. Jessica loaned me 'Crossed' which I've been on hold for at the library and I was desperately wanting to just read all day. He was happy to watch a couple shows while I read and read and really got into the book. So basically for the rest of the day I'd get the boys started on something (a game, a chore, homework...) to occupy them so I could read! They played really well together today and I was so glad :)
I did take a break to work with them on cleaning the toilets since that was on their 'Activity Chart' today. And I also took a break to go to the gym at 3:00. The boys are so great there, I only worry about them a little bit :)
Last Friday I ran just over 5 miles on the treadmill. Today while running I had told myself I'd just run until 'Ellen' was over. As her show was ending I was at about 4.5 miles and wondered if I could run a 10k in less than an hour. I had walked for a few minutes as a warm up so I knew I'd need to run a bit faster if I wanted to beat that 60 minute goal. I usually run at 6.0 with some sprints here and there so I turned it up to 6.5 and watched some 'Project Runway'. I did have to run for 1 minute at 7.5 but guess what? I ran 6.2 miles in 59 minutes 50 seconds! Ha ha--10 seconds to spare. Yea me!! I was happy with myself and excited to try to beat my time, maybe next week? I figure knocking off a few seconds each time is progress so we'll see how it goes! And surely this will help with my half marathon time, yes?
So I did a few leg exercises after my run and then picked up the boys who were happy as could be. Asher and Rylan were playing with play dough and Tyce was chillin' in the swing. There is a candy machine just outside the playroom and of course my boys always ask to get jelly beans or m&m's. But for some reason I always forget my quarters :) So I told them they could have a starburst when they got home (leftover from Halloween! They were the last two so now we'll start working on the leftover twizzlers. I had bought some trick or treat candy but we ended up being out of town for my grandpa's funeral on Halloween so we have a TON of candy. It's been hidden from my boys but it seriously is never ending. I may have to start taking it to Young Women's or passing it out to the neighbor kids as they come home from school!)
Anyways, on the way home Rylan started being super ornery. I warned him I was going to take away his starburst unless he started acting like the sweet boy he is. Then he head butted Asher. "Okay, last chance. You better start being nice" I warned him. "No, YOU start being nice" he shouted back, which was of course crossing the line and he lost his starburst. Ugh! Of course the rest of the way home and for the next 30 minutes he was throwing a fit and coming up with outrageous threats, the worst of them being "I'm going to kill myself if you don't give me my starburst!" Really? Oh, to even write that out makes me sick. Why would he say something like that? So I had a talk with him about never ever saying something like that again. And the thought came to my mind that he needed some mommy time. So we sat down with some books and read together and he was such a pleasant boy after that.
Rylan and Asher looked at books while I got a quick dinner thrown together. Kevin and I had chicken, veggies and beans. Rylan had a jam sandwich, yogurt, veggies and beans. Asher had chicken nuggets. That's not usually how I work but occasionally it happens.
Rylan was in charge of FHE. He gave us a lesson on how we were spirits in Heaven and we came to earth for a body. He also taught us about some good and bad choices. Ry, Asher, and Kevin drew and colored pictures of trains while I fed Tyce. Then it was past time for bed and I let Kevin put the boys to bed while I read some more in my book :)
Kev and I watched a couple shows together before going to bed. I finished my book as Kevin tried to sleep. My book was so good! I liked the first book ('Matched') fine, but I really liked this book so much more! (Maybe because I read 'Matched' just after I had finished 'Hunger Games' so I was really wanting more action.) Now I can't wait for the third one to come out!!
Between my fun run and reading my book, I had a great day!!

Good Saturday
Kevin started off the day with some time at the gym. He didn't get a bike for the spin class but he came home in time so I could go to the 9:00 spin class. I love it!
After burning some calories and making my legs burn, I came home and showered. Everyone got ready, we did the lunch thing, the boys made their beds, and then we ventured out of the house into the rain. I had to go to the mall to exchange some pants at Bohme that Kev gave me for Christmas. I wanted my first pair of skinny jeans and I found some! The girl there is always so good and encouraging. I've been wanting some boots, too so I dragged the family over to Forever Young where their boots were buy one get one free! It took me way too long to find two pair I wanted. Probably because of the sale, I could not find a brown pair I liked in my size. Kevin ended up talking me into a pair with a heel--will I be able to walk in them?
We were all ready for some Quiznos and it was an absolutely delicious meal! All day Ry has been looking forward to going to Cold Stone. It was their reward for filling up the jar from their chore/activity chart and he's been anxiously waiting since Tuesday. Before we took them though, we came home and had them do their "chores" they hadn't finished today (reading and picking up toys). It was a struggle to get Ry to cooperate but once he got moving (and mostly, once Kev started helping) it was a success.
Tyce was sleeping so I offered to stay home while Kev took Ry and Asher to Cold Stone. We also needed bread and milk so he suggested I take the boys and go to Macey's and he would stay home. "I'm naturally lazy" was his argument. So Ry, Asher, and I hurried at Macey's so they could get their well earned ice cream. Ry chose vanilla with gummy bears (which he had already decided on even before that jar was full) and Asher chose chocolate with M&M's. Even with the snow coming down Cold Stone was quite busy! We took their ice cream to go and they finished it at home. Asher went back and forth between not liking cold M&M's and liking them but he ended up eating them all so I guess he liked them.
While Kev got them ready and in bed I fed and played with Tyce. Kevin made us a banana chocolate milkshake that tasted fantastic (even though it was a bit too milky). We watched some tv, I put Tyce to bed, and then we ended the night with some American Idol. My eyes are heavy and tired so I'm off to bed!

Mama Moments
(January 21, 2012)
When I got home from the gym this morning Ry and Asher were playing the ipod at the top of the stairs. I knelt down on the stairs so I was level with them and I started watching Ry play. Asher looked up, smiled, leaned forward and gave me a kiss. I absolutely love being a mom because of moments like this!!
(January 23, 2012)
Asher doesn't eat dinner. We still encourage him to at least try one bite of each thing on his plate. Today Rylan took control and tried the airplane trick with Asher. It didn't work...at first. After Ry tried several times Asher finally opened his mouth! He spit it out, but it was cute to see Ry trying to help Asher.
(Nightly)
I try to time it right so I can wake Tyce up to feed him just before I go to bed. I typically feed him in my room so I can talk to Kev before he falls asleep. After I feed Tyce I'll wrap him up and carry him back to his room. But I love to stop in the loft where the light from the night is shining in through the window. My baby is absolutely amazing in every light!
(February 16?, 2012)
I was leaving the house (to go grocery shopping, I think). I said bye to the boys and went to get in my car. As the garage was closing Rylan and Asher came running to the back door to wave 'good-bye'. I waved until the door closed all the way. Is it silly that something like that makes me smile?
(February 21, 2012)
I came home from an early morning at the gym and the three boys were lined up, sitting on the floor watching Peep. It was so cute :)
(March 5, 2012)
Listening to Asher sing primary songs in the car. Such a cute singing voice and he really can sing on key!
(March 7, 2012)
While nursing Tyce at 5:30 this morning it was dark and quiet. Tyce grabbed my hand and feeling his little fingers and hand made me smile and warmed my heart.
(March 11, 2012)
We were driving home from Andy's house and Rylan and Asher were whispering in the back seat. I love that they feel like they can have secrets together :)

Walking Report Cards
I was so tired when Tyce woke up this morning at 6:45 but I knew it would be the best time for me to go to the gym. I had a good 40 minute run on the treadmill and then did some weights before coming home. I felt great!
Rylan requested muffins for breakfast and then got too impatient and ate some cereal while the muffins were cooking. The boys and I snacked on the muffins all day. Mmmm!
After breakfast I showered and got ready to go to Rylan's walking report card day at school. Kev worked from home this morning so he could go with us. We dropped off Asher and Tyce with Deborah and Ry, Kevin, and I were at the school right at 11:00.
Rylan brought home his report card yesterday and is a great student! He is improving in his reading and writing and both of those were apparent today. There were four stations--Reading, Writing, Math and . We got to see some work he's been doing--mostly pictures he's drawn with a few words about the picture. This is where we could really see his improvement by the words he wrote on his pictures. We were there for about 45 minutes. I love that my boy is doing so well in kindergarten :)
We picked up Asher and Tyce and then came home for lunch. Kev ate his lunch and then went to the warehouse to work. The boys and I played with and counted marbles, seeing how many marbles filled up different sized jars. We started their job chart today and we were trying to figure out which jar we wanted to use. We started with the smallest (a baby food jar) and depending on the reward they are working for we'll choose different sized jars. I hope this works and teaches them some responsibility!
I let Ry and Asher play on the computer when I put Tyce down for a nap. I was so sleepy myself so I sneaked into my bed for nap. Rylan and Asher came in about every 5 minutes asking for a snack or a drink. I still got a little nap in though as I tried to ignore them...they know snack time is at 3:00 and it was only 2:15! Tami called just before 3:00 so I answered the phone and got out of bed to get the boys a snack (pretzels, chocolate chips, and marshmallows. That's their snack nearly every day. I remember my mom giving us chocolate chips and marshmallows and I've always loved it!)
The boys did their chores which included making their bed and reading for 15 minutes (Asher just looks at the pictures in his book). They played and I unloaded/loaded the dishwasher. It was almost time for Kevin to get home so we all hid with blankets. We were in our hiding spots for about 15 minutes. I had my book with me :) When Kev got home he found Rylan and we all jumped up, yelled "boo" and covered him with our blankets. This was all Rylan's idea of course. He's always coming up with these fun plans :)
Kevin had been to the gym before coming home. He worked some more on the chore chart while I heated up our leftover taco soup for dinner. Asher didn't want to eat, of course. When Ry was about finished with his soup he came up with a 'great idea'. (My boys are always saying that-"I've got a great idea!" "Is that a great idea?" It's cute!!) He decided that whomever finished their dinner got ice cream for dessert. Sure, why not? Asher said he didn't want ice cream...until he saw Rylan eating his! Kevin kept telling Ry to say "mmmm, this is so good", trying to get Asher to eat his food! Kev got Asher to eat 2 nice big bites, promising him one (small) scoop for each bite. He tried to get him to eat a third bite for a third scoop but Asher said "no, I only want two scoops"! So Ry and Asher enjoyed their ice cream together before getting in the shower.
Meanwhile I put Tyce down for nap and started cleaning up. I've been wanting to vacuum for several days and I was determined to get it done today. Ahhhh, it feels so nice to have it vacuumed now!
I think I'll go watch a show with my hubby now before bed!

8 months old!
Look at this kid! Fresh out of the bath--I think I need to eat him up!

He's 8 months old and I'm really feeling like he's getting bigger. He's eating rice cereal twice a day now but still nursing a lot. Even through the night. I can't get myself to make him cry it out at night but I think he's just waking up out of habit. But still, he's super fun to have around and I like him. A lot. :)

He loves green beans. I was hesitant to try them because they're green and it seems like my other two boys didn't like the green veggies as much as the orange veggies. Boy was I surprised when he ate and ate and ate and couldn't get enough of those green beans! He also likes pears, sweet potatoes, and carrots. He does okay with squash but does not like peaches.

He's sitting on his own...mostly. I'd never just sit him down and leave him there though. I still sit very close :) He rolls and rolls and rolls around the room and he LOVES to play with paper and magazines. He laughs a lot at Rylan. Rylan can always make his happy.

He has his two bottom teeth which are still growing in. In fact the other day Asher said "Baby Tyce's teeth are growed up. I see them!"

This boy makes me laugh! I just can't help but be happy and smile when I'm around him :)
(Update: So I took these pictures just after Tyce had taken a bath. Well, he went down for a nap shortly after and when he woke up, his hair still looked wet. Oops! I had combed oil through his hair to help get rid of his cradle cap (is it still called that at this age?) and apparently I didn't wash it out well enough! I took him to the gym playroom with oily hair but when we got home I gave him a quick shampoo in the sink. His hair is back to normal now!!)

Early Morning
My morning started early when Tyce woke up at 4:40. Kevin went in to give him his pacifier but Tyce wasn't going for it so Kev brought him in to me. After getting him fed and back to sleep I dressed and headed to the gym. I did some weights before going to the cycle class that totally kicked my booty! Seriously, it was the hardest cycle class I've done yet. At the end the teacher said "Did you guys notice we didn't take any breaks today?" HA! I took more than one break :) This girl also teaches a yoga class with weights that I've only been to once but I really liked it. I'll have to go to more of her classes! I was so glad I got to go to her cycle class this morning. I may have to start waking Tyce up early on Wednesdays so I can go again (just not 4:40 am early...maybe 5:00!)
It felt good to have that workout done for the day and I was starving. So I made my breakfast when I got home and still had about 45 minutes to shower and do this and that before the boys woke up. Rylan was the first one out of his room, followed within seconds by Asher with his babies and then almost immediately Tyce started crying. Funny how they all woke up at the same time!
The boys ate cereal for breakfast and Ry got ready for school super fast! Yesterday I told him he needed to start getting ready for school on time without me having to get upset with him or else I would start taking away privileges...like going to Christian's house. I'm sure that's what helped today! I'll have to keep using that for as long as I can.
Since I was already ready for the day I thought I'd feed Tyce some pears and rice cereal and then paint my fingernails. Tyce was carrying my nail polish as we walked through the kitchen. And then he dropped it. It broke and splattered all over. Drats! I stood there for a second or two with polish on my feet, on the floor around me, Tyce in one arm, his food in the other arm. I didn't know what to do. So I made footprints of Gunmetal Gray nail polish over to his seat, trying to avoid the little glass shards everywhere. He was not too pleased to sit there without his food but I had to at least try to clean off my feet, although I don't know why. I very well could have just fed him and then cleaned up! Oh well...
After he was fed I put him down for a nap and then spent the next 55 minutes with a bag of cotton balls and a bottle of nail polish remover scrubbing the tile (which I had just mopped last night!). I was so so glad it didn't get on the carpet or couch! There are a few spots on the wall but it needs to be painted anyways so I wasn't too upset.
Glad to have that finished, I scratched the idea of painting my nails and instead finished getting Asher and myself ready. It was already time to pick up Ry from school--early out Wednesday, the last day of school for the week. Tomorrow Ry and I will go in for walking report cards! Friday he's off as well and then Monday is Martin Luther King day so he'll have that off. Wowzers--we'll have to plan something fun!

I had a couple returns/exchanges to do so I took the boys to the mall. Ry and Asher played at the play area for a bit while I tried to stay awake by playing with Tyce. After going to the 2 stores we needed to visit Rylan talked me into getting a big soft pretzel (which we used to get all the time when I was pregnant with Asher. I craved them!) and we also shared a sandwich from Subway. We were all ready to go home so that's what we did!
For some reason I smile when I see this picture of Tyce. Maybe it's his chubby cheeks...he's so stinkin cute!
The boys hopped on the computer while Tyce and I took a quick 20 minute nap (too short!) I had to do something productive so I cleaned my bathroom and started some laundry. And then the time got away from me and it was already dinner time. Of course I hadn't even started dinner so it was our easy, basic meal...chicken, beans, veggies, and rice.
Clean up, bed time for the three boys and now time to relax. I'm sure I'll be heading to bed early tonight :)

Today
I was too tired to go to the gym this morning after feeding Tyce at 5:30. I crawled in bed happy to sleep for another 2+ hours!
Rylan came in my room at 8:00 asking me to play. I had to say 'no' because it was time to get ready for school! It's a rush every morning because he likes to have time in the morning before eating his breakfast. Time to play or relax or just wake up some more. Maybe afternoon kindergarten would have been better? Who knows! I poured him some cereal and got him to eat before it got too soggy. Getting dressed, brushing teeth, getting shoes on and backpack all happened right after and we all piled in the car to get him to school. I always like to watch him run into school when I drop him off. I still get teary eyed seeing that my boy is really a kindergartener--such a big boy!
Our time while he is at school goes so fast. I fed Tyce, made and ate my own breakfast (scrambled eggs with spinach and green peppers with some turkey bacon and toast. Asher always 'shares' with me even. It's his second breakfast I guess!), started some laundry, put Tyce down for a nap, and changed my clothes. Then it was time to get Ry!
I had planned on getting a quick lunch at home and then heading to Sam's Club and Wal-mart. But Christian ran up and asked if Ry could go to his house to play. So we set up a play date in one hour. Once home Rylan and I worked on his homework and had some lunch. I fed Tyce (yes, it still takes up so much time during the day!), worked on the laundry and then we were off. About an hour late! Ry rode his scooter while I followed in the car. Once at Christian's house we said our goodbye's and I took the other two boys with me for errands.
Sam's Club was pretty quick but Wal-mart took longer. I found some clearanced tank tops for the gym--wahoo!! We rushed out of there to pick up Ry. I was still hoping to get to the gym.
Of course when I picked up Ry he asked if Christian and his brothers could come play at our house. I said 'yes' knowing I had some cleaning I needed to do anyway. I could just go to the gym after Kev got home from work.
Asher had fallen asleep on the way home so he slept on the couch while the other 4 boys played. I fed Tyce and put him down for a nap, did more laundry, started dinner, did some dishes...
I got ready for the gym so I could leave as soon as Kevin got home. Brother Ward came to pick up his boys just as Kevin got home so after they left I left.
I like the cycle class at the gym on Saturday mornings. This was the first time I've gone on Monday night, different teacher. And I loved her! Totally different style but I like each of them just as well as the other. I was so glad to get that work out in. And I was so glad Kev let me go while he and they boys ate dinner. I came home to see him and Asher dancing while Tyce watched with a smile on his face. Ry was on the computer playing on PBS kids.
We had a quick FHE about David and Goliath and having faith...including faith when we pray. I told them Steph's story about her missing ipod, praying, finding it. (They were all across the street for that portion of the Doyle FHE last night.)
Then it was off to bed. Kev's straightening up while listening to his audio book. It's after 9:00 and I never ate dinner. I'm hungry.

A New Year!
It's a New Year and I'm feeling great! We came home from the cabin today. Such a fun, fun weekend with the fam. My boys love it, I love, and I think Kevin even loves it!
I'm ready to set some goals and resolutions for the year but I need to think of them :)
On the way home from the cabin Asher was playing the ipod for quite some time. He started saying his tummy hurt and he wanted to get out of the car. He handed me the ipod and I noticed he was a little pale. I asked him if he was going to throw up but he didn't really answer me. I had a cup of water which I was going to offer him. Just as I was turning around to hand him the water he started to throw up. In my haste to have him throw up in the cup, I accidentally splashed the water all over him!!! He didn't even flinch (he was too busy) and I got the cup there just in time! Oh I felt so bad but I was laughing! Poor thing. He was fine after I dried him off and cleaned him up. I think it was just too much ipod while riding in the car.
We came home, cleaned up, and relaxed (since we didn't do that enough at the cabin!) We all played a game of Chutes and Ladders (Rylan won) before the boys went to bed. Even though I love vacations and cabin time, I'm looking forward to my own bed :)
