Lana Grace is Blessed

What a wonderful day!
Kevin blessed Lana today at his parent's house before Oliver's baptism. My family came (most of them traveling 45 min-1 hr) and my Grandma Goodman came, too (Matt Henage brought her down from Salt Lake where she's staying with Jeannine). I was extremely sad that my dad got called back to Farmington and had to leave yesterday morning at 4:30. I missed having him there and I know he was sad to miss it. I am grateful to the rest of my family for sacrificing their Saturday to be there. (And Kevin's family, too but the Doyle's also had the baptism!)
The blessing was beautiful. I asked Kevin is he gets nervous giving blessings. He said not really beforehand, but a little nervous as he's actually giving the blessing. I know he has prayed and thought specifically about Lana and the blessings our Heavenly Father wants her to have. He did a great job giving the blessing and she was quiet and content! My grandma complimented Kevin saying it was one of the best blessings she's heard.
My little Lana Grace is a special little girl. She has a sweet spirit about her and she has filled our home with joy. My heart is overflowing with love for her and I often have a tear in my eye because of that love that she has brought to me. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and her and He will help me in raising her to be an amazing little girl!
She looked absolutely beautiful in her blessing dress.

FLu, Worms and Movie

I've had a sore throat for several weeks now. In fact, it came on while Kevin was in CA for his costume competition. It's never gotten very bad, it's always just there. So I was telling that to my mom on Wednesday and that night while talking to Kev on the phone it started to hurt more and more to the point I didn't want to talk. Thursday morning I woke up aching everywhere, a head ache, a throat so sore I couldn't swallow. I spent the day mostly in bed and tried to avoid breathing on my kids as much as possible. Charlie texted to see if Asher could play. I'm not sure if my mom told him I was sick and suggested he take Asher but I was grateful. Amy came and picked him up and he was so excited. I'm pretty sure he and Tyce had been watching tv most of the day!
Tyce was napping so I just put Lana in bed with me and we took a nap until Rylan came home from school. It was my week to drive for music so we picked up Josh (Callie's mom texted me to tell me Callie wouldn't be going this week). I dropped the two boys off at music class and came home for a brief few moments of resting. I picked up Asher from Gavin's house and then picked up the boys from music. Once home, Ry finished his homework, they played on the computer a bit, I fed the boys quesadillas for dinner, and I tried to get them in bed early so I could go to bed. (I ate an orange before picking up the boys from music and had a piece of toast for dinner.) I was in their room nursing Lana and asked Tyce several times to get in bed. He would just look at me and say 'no'. So frustrating! I was sick and low on patience and done for the day. When Lana was finished eating I grabbed Tyce and spanked his bum and put him in bed. He looked at me with the saddest look on his face and I was crushed. I wanted to just lay down and cry, feeling bad as well as sick. I apologized to him but had a talk on how he needed to obey, it was bedtime, and we all need to work together to be a happy family. I cuddled him a bit and the boys all finally went to sleep.
Since most my day was spent in bed I had some clean up I needed to do before I could go to sleep myself. I tried to work fast and hard but before I knew it it was 10:00. By the time I got ready for bed, fed Lana, talked to Kevin and crawled in bed, it was nearly 11:00. I was so ready to sleep!
Friday morning I woke up feeling a bit better. My body still ached but not as bad. My throat was still super sore but I felt like I was on the mend and could tackle the day. Rylan got off to school and I got Tyce and Asher to play while I did some clean up. I had lots I wanted to do before Kevin got home! Elizabeth had cleaned our house on Monday after he left so I wanted it to feel clean to him when he got home. I was expecting him around 2:00. The house was feeling pretty good so I thought I'd vacuum and shower just in time for Kevin to come home. I was vacuuming our room when I was startled by "Bonjour!" and turned around to see Kevin! YEA!! I was so excited he was home...but embarrassed that I hadn't showered yet. He commented on the clean house and briefly talked about his time in CA. I told him Ry was hoping to go to Hang Time but had also mentioned earlier in the week he wanted to go to the movie. He wanted to see "Free Birds" but I don't so I suggested to Kev we take the boys to Despicable Me 2 at the SF theater. We thought it would be good to go earlier, 4:30.
So back Monday night, Tyce woke up crying and as I was trying to get him back to sleep he kept saying 'ouchie' and holding his bum. I took off his diaper but didn't notice anything strange. I was trying to hold him but he'd flex his bum and go stiff. He'd start to fall asleep and then go stiff again and start crying. He eventually went back to sleep. I mentioned it to Kevin and he said Tyce had done that to him last week. I told my mom and she said "I hope he doesn't have worms". WHAT??!! So I googled it and was convinced he indeed had worms. Gross! So after talking more to Kevin about it once he was home, I called the doctor's office. They said they could call in a prescription for me without a dr visit if I knew it was worms. So...I went to Costco to grab a few things along with the prescription. It wasn't filled when I got there since Tyce has never had a prescription filled at Costso so they were waiting on me to fill out forms...I didn't know that. Then when it was done the lady asked if I knew it was going to be so expensive--$202.00! Holy Cow! The insurance had only paid $18. Ummmm, no thank you. I checked out and called the dr office again asking for a different way to get rid of the worms. As I was walking out of Costco a lady stopped me and said "I was standing behind you at the pharmacy and thought 'That girl is so cute'. So I just wanted to tell you that you are just adorable." That made my day!! What a nice lady!
I also called the insurance co to see why they wouldn't pay--we haven't met our deductible yet. (Unfortunately we had bills to pay that I hadn't paid on. Had I paid them all we would have most definitely reached our deductible then the prescription would have been way way cheaper :( I didn't realize that until later.) This all took too long and we missed the 4:30 show.
The boys were fighting when I got home and Asher was still ornery and crying when we got in the car. I was tempted to cancel the movie all together and go to bed early! But Kevin is nicer than me so we forged ahead. We went to Wendy's for a quick dinner and then went to the 6:00 movie. It was so good! The last few movies we've gone to Tyce has gotten bored halfway through, getting up and down in his seat. But he sat through the whole movie without making a peep! He loves those minions and often says "Beedo" which he learned from Minion Rush on our phones. I heard Asher laugh out loud a few times, too :) Lana was great and slept most of the movie. She woke up towards the end to eat and finished just as the movie was over. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie too, as did Kevin and Rylan, I'm sure!
The boys got ready for bed once we were home. It always takes awhile to actually get them in bed, asleep. Kevin and I watched some tv before we went to bed ourselves.

October Quotes

Rylan

(October 14, 2013)
While eating dinner I heard sirens so I said "Shhh, listen!"
Rylan: "Is it a fire?"
Me: "Maybe..."
Rylan: "Unlikely. It's more likely an injury."

Asher

Tyce

(October 19, 2013)
Me: "Boys, what should we have for dinner?"
Tyce: "Ummmm, frosting!"

September Quotes

Rylan

(September 1, 2013)
I had a gel eye mask out and Tyce wanted to put it on. When I put it on him he looked like a superhero so I said "Look, it's Super Tyce!" Then he wanted me to put it on, so I did. Rylan said "Look, it's super mom...no wait, it's Super Pregnant Mom!"

(September 30, 2013)
At Kevin's soccer game the boys were running back and forth and up and down the bleachers. It started to make me nervous so I asked them to stop. Rylan sat down next to me and just then another little boy who was running down the bleachers tripped and fell.
Me: "That's why I don't want you to run." A few minutes later the boy tripped again and Rylan said "You should let us do it so we learn a lesson!"

Asher

(September 2, 2013)
We took the boys to see Turbo at the theaters. Asher had already seen it with Gavin (for Gavin's birthday party) and he had been talking a lot about it. After we watched it today I asked him if he liked the movie. He was shocked that I asked and he said "What?! Why would you ask that? You already know I liked it so why wouldn't I like it again?"
When I write that out it sounds like he was being rude but really, he seemed to be confused that I would think he didn't like it anymore.

(September 4, 2013)
Asher picked up the Book of Mormon to 'read'. After several minutes of reading out loud (made up words) he said "Hey mom, that's no fair. In this book it says that Jesus is the boss!"

(September 11, 2013)
While praying: "...Thankful we can love..."

(September 12, 2013)
Asher was telling me about Plants vs. Zombies and said "You can kill the zombies and cut thier heads off."
Me: "That sounds terrible"
Asher: "You don't need to say 'that sounds terrible' because it's a good thing to kill the zombies."

(September 15, 2013)
We got home from church and I told Kevin "If I don't have this baby before next Sunday I'm not going to church. Too many people share their surprise that I'm still pregnant." I laid down on the couch and Asher came to me and said "If you don't have the baby before Sunday then I'll stay home with you."
I'm not sure if he was being sweet and comforting me or if he was trying to get out of going to church!!

(September 26, 2013)
Asher has had crazy mosquito bites lately. He'll go outside for 5 minutes and come in covered with bites on his face, arms and legs. I'm starting to wonder if they really are mosquito bites or what they could be. We were talking about it today and he said "They are either mosquito bites, wasp bites, or weirdo bites."

Tonight we played Super Mario Bros. together as a family. I wasn't doing so great and soon lost all my lives. Shortly after Asher lost a life and said "Mom, I'm as bad as you"

Tyce

(September 24, 2013)
Tyce and I were downstairs. Kevin was playing Plants vs. Zombies upstairs and Ry and Asher were watching him. Suddenly Tyce stopped, gasped, and said "Zombies...coming!" He threw down the toy he was playing with and went upstairs to watch Kevin play. (In the game there's a part that says 'The zombies are coming.')

My Belly Is HUGE!

I got to go out with the neighborhood girls tonight. Always fun! Before I left Kevin took a picture of my 39 1/2 week big belly. I honestly did not think I'd still be pregnant, but at least I was able to enjoy a delicious dinner at Cubby's. I ate a lot. It's surprising that I can stuff so much food in my face but those sweet potato fries with buffalo dipping sauce are heavenly. And even though I feel huge I really do feel pretty good. Yay for being pregnant...now when is this baby coming?!

Going to Church

Kevin snapped some pictures of Tyce walking in to church because he thought he just looked so cute :)

Crazy Weather

Kevin and I got to use his parent's BYU tickets for the game last night. We were both excited to go! My mom came over to watch the boys until Tami could come pick them up. They were excited as well! On our way to the stadium it started to rain. Then it started to POUR. Almost instantly the streets by BYU were flooded and we could barely see. We had been listening to the pre-game show and knew it was going to be delayed because of the lightning. And now with this rain we considered just going home. We decided to stop at Wendy's (which was beyond packed!) to get some dinner while we waited to see when the game was going to start. We were happy to hear we didn't have much longer to wait. The rain had let up and eventually it turned into a beautiful night! (It didn't sprinkle a few times during the game but nothing that drove us away :)
Meanwhile back at home, my mom and Tami had quite an adventure. The boys were outside playing but as soon as it started to storm they all ran inside. Tami and my mom were talking and my mom looked out the window just as the tramp blew away, over the fence, up against the neighbors house! Yikes! Tami said the poles were bent (we already had to trash the net). The tramp was staked into the ground so that was a fierce wind that must have blown in just the right direction. I'm so glad the boys had come inside.

The game was lots of fun. We cheered and high-fived and enjoyed being out together. I do enjoy watching BYU football and it's always a bit more exciting to be at the stadium. BYU played a great game and pulled off a win! GO COUGS!!

Baby Shower

My cute friend Sarah offered to throw me a baby shower. I tried to decline but she insisted so I gave in :) It was incredibly nice of her but she's always nice like that!
I didn't think to take pictures but Sarah and I snapped this one at the end. It was fun chatting with the girls and really, just having a night out with good friends is always welcome. People were so generous to come and Lana got some really cute new outfits, towels, blankets, bows, and more! I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such good people!

Baby Dreams

I've had a few dreams about this baby so I thought I'd record them, just for fun.

The first dream I had was several months ago. I was probably about 6ish months along. I had a dream that there was an opening in my stomach and I could see my baby's face. I just kept saying over and over "She's so beautiful!" And then I tried closing my stomach because I wasn't quite ready for her to be born yet. But I was just in awe and how beautiful she was :)

Another dream

Asher Starts Preschool

Asher was so excited to start preschool (for the second year). This year he's going to Little Readers Academy and Miss Jodi is his teacher. His best friend Jack is in his class so I know he's gonna have a great year!

In class, ready for some FUN...and learning of course :)

Tyce and I came home for a nice morning together. I took him on a walk and then we read some Curious George while relaxing.

August Quotes

Rylan:

(August 5, 2013)
Rylan was complaining and whining and crying nonstop about going to play with Christian. I continually reminded him he had chores and responsibilities he needed to get done before he could play with friends. After awhile I was so sick of it so I told Rylan "Fine, go to Christian's house without doing your chores."
Asher piped up and asked if he could go too and I said "ok, just go."
They both left my room and I immediately regretted telling them they could go just because I was tired of hearing the complaining. I was pleased and relieved when Asher came back up a few minutes later and said "Ry won't go to Christian's yet because he says that would not be obeying you."
It's exhausting having to stand your ground but it was good to know that even when I faltered my 7 year old chose to choose the right and obey.

(August 7, 2013)
Rylan had some Captain Underpants books to read on our drive to New Mexico/Colorado. At one point Kevin saw him reading and said "Ry! You already read halfway throught that book?"
Ry: "Not just halfway. This is my third time to read it. I like to read. When I like something, that's all I want to do."
Needless to say, Kevin was impressed :)

(August 8, 2013)
We were in New Mexico at my grandma Mitchell's house. After leaving Rylan said "Mom, did you know when you were little your face looked like mine?
Me: "Really? Why do you think that?"
Ry: "At great-grandma's house there was a picture."
Me: "And you thought I looked like you?"
Ry: "Yes, including my lost tooth and everything!"
Kev: "Did someone tell you that you looked like mom?
Ry: "No, I just figured it out on my own."

(August 16, 2013)
Ry: "I saw a car exactly like Tami's but it was a truck and it was red!"
Tami drives a white SUV. Exactly alike, huh? :)

Asher:

(August 6, 2013)
After baths Asher put Tyce's towel around him and said "There you go little beanstalk."

(August 7, 2013)
We were in a hotel room, boys tucked in bed, and Kevin was watching tv before going to bed himself. Asher said to him: "You know what would help me go to sleep? If you turn off the tv."
Hee hee! Kev immediately turned the tv off and sure enough the boys zonked out!

(August 13, 2013)
Asher: "You're my favorite mom."
Me: "Ahhh, thanks. And you're my favorite Asher."...and he always will be :)

(August 20, 2013)
During FHE I asked the boys a question. The answer was 'Joseph Smith' but neither of them guessed it. Kevin was trying to give hints. Kevin: "Jo..."
Asher: "Joey!"
Kev: "Smi..."
Asher: "Smithus! Joey Smithus!"
Who??!!! Rylan then guessed Joseph Smith. Phew!

Tyce:

(August 30 or 31, 2013)
I put Tyce to bed, gave him a kiss, and said "I love you" and for the first time ever he said "I love you". My heart melted and a tear came to my eye. There's nothing better than being a mom :)

July Quotes

Rylan:

(July 2 (?), 2013)
I didn't write down when he said he but one day at the gym Charlie was leaving the same time the boys and I were leaving. Asher told Charlie he wanted to go to his house so Charlie took Asher with him to play with Gavin. I took Rylan and Tyce to the car, got all buckled in, and while leaving the parking lot Rylan asked where Asher was.
Me: "He went with uncle Charlie, remember?"
Rylan: "Yeah, and I already miss him."
Me: "You do?"
Rylan: "No."
Ha ha ha!

(July 29, 2013)
Me: "Did you know that school registration is this week and you get to find out who your teacher is?"
Rylan: "No"
Me: "It's on Thursday"
Rylan: "I know what you're going to say next, mom. You usually say something like 'Isn't that exciting?' But it's not."

Asher:

(July 3, 2013)
While driving in the car Asher was back in his seat just laughing and laughing. After a few minutes he sighed and said "I have funny things in my mind."

(July 9, 2013)
Asher has been so funny lately, saying things that don't make any sense but they sure make me laugh. The other night at dinner he asked for chocolate milk. I told him he could ahve some after he finished his dinner. He pumped his fist in the air and proclaimed "Here's to the righteous people" and proceeded to take a bite of food!
He's also into saying "I'm doing my business". Once he was upside down on the couch with his feet in the air, eyes closed, and his hands together in prayer position when he told me "Quiet mom, I'm doing my business."

(July 23, 2013)
Kevin left yesterday for a work thing and he'll be gone all week. Tonight at dinner Asher said "Mom, do you miss dad?"
Me: "Yes, do you?"
Asher: "Yes."
I just thought it was so sincere. That boy loves his daddy.

Tyce:

(July 31, 2013)
Tyce was laying on Rylan's bed before going to his own bed for the night. I laid down next to him and gave him a kiss on his forehead. A few seconds later he rolled over and gave me a kiss on my forehead. Such a sweetheart.

Camping

I had been aching to go camping and with a quick text out to my family the plans started. My mom and I drove up to Timpanooeke to try to snatch our favorite family camping spot but it was taken :( We drove around for awhile looking for something else but we just weren't quite satisfied with what few spots were available. We had been in the car for several hours with Asher and Tyce who were really doing great. We stopped at home but then before getting out of the car we decided to go ahead and drive up Payson canyon. Not the same big mountains, lots of shade type camping but we found a spot big enough for the family with room for kids to go exploring. We texted everyone to start packing up their tents and sleeping bags! Yea!

Playing games is one of my favorite parts of camping!!

It's always a lot of work to pack for camping but it's always so worth it! Tami and fam ended up coming for the days/nights and going back home to sleep and Kacy's family ended up coming for Saturday and left after dinner that night. Deborah's kids weren't sleeping so great in the tent so they went home at bedtime on Saturday night. But my mom, Charlie and kids and my little family stuck it out for the two nights and had a great time!!! My boys just love being outside and being with cousins. I love so much about camping (relaxing family time can't be beat). And I'm pretty sure Kevin enjoys camping, too :) So camping is a great getaway for our family.

Always so handsome :)
Saturday afternoon we drove down the canyon to hike the Grotto. It's just a little "hike" to a little waterfall but it's pretty and great for the kiddos.
Tyce fell asleep in the car ride down and didn't transition well to the back pack. I carried him for a very short time then had to pass him off before I passed out :) He refused the back pack and wasn't pleased to be on Kevin's shoulders at first. He eventually calmed down but didn't share many smiles. Poor, tired boy. It's hard to be cranky in the mountains though :)

Rylan is always so so so happy when we're camping. I think it's a combination of being in nature and being with his two best cousins/friends!

Adam was letting Finn use the hatchet on this old tree stump so of course the other little boys wanted a turn. All that wacking scared me too much. 4 years old is too little to be playing with things like that!

It's so fun sleeping in a tent :) Tyce looked so warm and cozy and was layered up with lots of blankets. Asher's just a goof!

Domino Men

The boys have had the dominoes out the last few days. Today Asher used them to make Domino Men. Cute! He requested to take a picture. Then he requested to take a picture while I was holding Tyce. It's blurry but I still like it :) Then of course I ended up with a bunch of Asher's selfies and random pictures!

30 Weeks

Feeling great and definitely getting bigger!!

24th of July

Just look at that face. So incredibly sweet...

Kevin will be away all week for work. He's staying up at a cabin with his co-workers for some bonding time/working. So he wasn't here to help us celebrate the 24th of July. We really didn't do much. It's Spanish Fork's Fiesta days so they had a parade in the morning. I don't really care for parades and my boys have never been too excited so we didn't go. Plus, Tyce came down with a fever and was throwing up the night before. Poor little guy. Poor me, too. The two times he threw up I was holding him so it was all over me. The not so fun times of being a mom! Of course it's always nice to cuddle them and hold them when your kids are sick.

Anyways, Tami called and invited us to her house for some pizza for dinner. I think it was from holding Tyce so much since he was sick, but I was having these terrible pains in my belly. I don't know if the weight of him was pushing the baby around but I was having a hard time breathing, sitting, walking, and getting comfortable. Tami was super nice and picked up Rylan and Asher earlier in the day to play at her house so I could relax and try to get the pains to go away. So Tyce and I joined in the fun for dinner. I thought Tyce was feeling better but he was still a bit clingy. Instead of playing with cousins he sat with me most of the time. Which was fine by me cause I sure do love that boy :)

We eventually all left the house to go to my mom's house. Spanish Fork has a fireworks show after the rodeo. It ends up being pretty late but we were all excited to watch them! Everyone was outside when we got there. It was a beautiful night. I sat down and tried not to move the rest of the night :) Ry and Asher ran around and around playing with cousins. They were having a great day! Tyce continued to stay by me and eventually took over Tami's phone. We all oohed and aahhed once the fireworks started. Such a pleasant night! If only Kevin had been there with us...

It was really late when we got home but we all quickly fell asleep and had a good night's rest.

Bowling

Bowling was on our summer bucket list and Ry has been asking to go for several weeks now. So we finally did it!

I didn't take any pictures of us actually bowling. Kevin beat me so I didn't have any fun :( Just kidding. We all had a good time, despite my loss!

I gave Tyce a high five after his first bowl (pushing the ball down the uneven kiddie helper thingy). He was quick to give me a high five after each bowl from then on!

Post bowling Tyce crawled over and laid down in the gutter. Asher used the kiddie helper thingy as a jungle gym. Rylan was putting his shoes on and I didn't get a picture of it :)
