Kev: "Janell, do we have any swimming pool stuff?" (He was wanting the kiddie pool to put out back for the boys.)
Ry: "We have a shovel."
Silly Ry Ry has been wanting to dig a swimming pool in our backyard and he thought his daddy was ready to get the project started :)
(July 7, 2011)
Tami brought over some Root Beer Float ice cream popsicles. Rylan was excited to eat his but I know he doesn't like root beer flavor so I was curious to see if he would like it. He licked it once and I asked if he liked it and he said "It's fine".
(After licking it one more time I guess he decided it wasn't 'fine' after all because he handed it to me and said he didn't want it anymore.)
(July 17, 2011)
While going to church we saw a chicken in the road and Ry piped up and said "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
(July 20, 2011)
We had recently talked about garbage trucks and what color of garbage trucks we've seen. I said I could only think of green and blue garbage trucks. The boys asked me if I had seen different colors (pink, brown, rainbow, etc.) Well, today we were driving and Rylan excitedly pointed out a red garbage truck and said "I thought there were red garbage trucks in this world!"
(July 24, 2011)
While getting ready for church...
Ry: "Where's my tie?"
Kev: "Oh, a tie wouldn't look good with this shirt you have."
Ry: "That shirt's not churchy enough."
Kev: "It's churchy enough for kids."
Ry: "It's not churchy enough for me."
Asher:
(July 2, 2011)
While Asher was playing the iTouch I noticed there was something dirty on his hand.
Me: "Asher, what's on your hand?"
Asher: "iPod"
(July 14, 2011)
We were driving in the car and Asher was trying to talk to Rylan. Rylan was silent and not responding.
Asher: "Mom, Ry Ry not talking."
Me: "I guess he just doesn't feel like talking right now."
Asher: "You talk to me?"
Me: "Of course!!"
(July 25, 2011)
Asher got his toes stuck in the stroller wheel while we were walking home from Fiesta Days. Ouch! When we got home I sat down and held him. I asked him if he would sit on the couch while I went upstairs to get a band aid and he said 'no'. So I asked him what he wanted to do and through his tears he said "Play hippos" (Hungry Hungry Hippos)!! We got out the game and sure enough it cheered him up right away!
(July 27, 2011)
Ry suggested they play 'Bingo' (a game Ry learned from the twins. When you see a yellow car you call 'Bingo' and of course you try to be the first to see the car/call 'Bingo')
Ry, excitedly: "I'm gonna win!"
Asher, excitedly: "I'm gonna lose!"
(July 30, 2011)
A sales lady asked me how old Asher is and so I told her he's two and a half. Asher looked at me, holding up his fingers and said "Mom, I five".
Ahhh, I don't want this little boy to grow up!

July 24th Weekend
The 24th of July is celebrated as Pioneer Day and it is also the weekend that Spanish Fork has their Fiesta Days celebrations.
On Friday evening we took the boys to ride some carnival rides. We bought their tickets and told them they could each ride 5 rides.

They both loved this roller coaster and it was so fun to watch them!

They also rode an airplane ride which was way lame. They were supposed to be able to maneuver it up and down but Asher couldn't push the button hard enough and Rylan's was broken. Boo!
For their last ride they split up. First Asher got to ride this pirate ride and he had soooo much fun...
...until Rylan got to ride the roller coaster again but Asher didn't get to go since he used his last tickets.
We had warned him that he wouldn't be able to ride the roller coaster with Ry but he said over and over again he wanted the pirate ride. And he really did have so much fun that I was sad his night ended with sadness instead of that super fun ride! But Ry had fun again on the roller coaster so at least one boy left happy!!
We walked around the library park where they had a car show, food, and vendors. We shared a lemonade that was gone after one sip. Seriously. A $5 sip of lemonade and a cup full of ice. So Kev took it back and insisted on a free refill! They filled it up again...so he got one more sip :)
Monday morning Kevin left for work and I made a last minute decision to walk the boys up to Main Street for the parade. I remember parades when I was little and we'd be so excited for the candy. That's the purpose of a parade, right? Not these days. One float handed out taffy to the three kids sitting closest. I was disappointed for my boys and they were bored after the fire engines and tractor drove by.

After the parade we joined the rest of the city at the park and played until we got hungry. I intended to just buy lunch there but the boys weren't excited about anything so we walked home and had sandwiches!
And that was our celebration! It's always fun to celebrate something and our pioneer heritage definitely deserves a celebration :)

A Good Day
We had a spontaneous fun day today! It started off by going up to the Doyle's to have a planning meeting/lunch to get ready for our upcoming Bear Lake trip. I gave the boys some sandwiches to eat on the way and when we got there, the mom's had some yummy Zupas. Our planning was successful and our camping trip is sure to be loads of fun!
Since we were up by the aquarium I decided to take the boys. We pulled in and parked and I looked over to see Tami's car! What?! It was time to feed Tyce so we hung out in the car for a bit and then headed inside. Tami and kids (and friends visiting from AZ) were just finishing up their aquarium fun but we chatted for a few minutes and let they boys run around. Then they left and we started our fun. So funny to see them there!
It was close to 5:00pm when we were ready to leave so I called Kevin and told him we'd pick him up and he could ride home with us. He had a few things at work he needed to do and his carpool ride was ready to leave so it ended up working out really well for both of us!
By the time he was ready to leave it was time again to feed Tyce. So we found a little play area nearby and Kevin played with the boys while I stayed in the car with my baby. There was another dad there with his two kids playing tag. They included Rylan and he was thrilled and had so much fun!
I love it when days end up being filled with fun things!

Tyce's Blessing Day
Our entire family was there and came to our house afterwards for lunch and we all just hung out for the day.

Pool Time
When Rylan gets something in his head he doesn't let it go. He asked me what day it was and then he said "I can't wait until it's Saturday!" When I asked why he said "Because we get to go to the pool with daddy."
"Oh, did daddy tell you that?"
"No, YOU did!"
Really? Ohhhh, I had said that we'd have to go to the pool on a Saturday while Kev was home from work. Apparently Rylan took that to mean we'd go THIS Saturday!
Well, we gave in and we all had a great time :)
Kev took the boys in the water while I hung out in the shade with my baby. He was sleeping soundly and I enjoyed lounging in the chair! Kevin is the fun parent and he took the boys down the little waterslide. After the first time or two Rylan found a life jacket--he was thrilled! He put that baby on and now was free to go down by himself! Of course he requested the life guard to be there to catch him at the bottom :)
After the waterslide fun it was my turn to swim with the boys and let Kev take a little nap with Tyce. I had Rylan practice floating on his back which is very easy with a life jacket on!!
It was a really fun day at the pool and I hope we can go back again before summer is over (which is creeping up on us way too fast!!)

Friends
Ben and Heather were driving by Spanish Fork on their way to Salt Lake for a family reunion. I was so happy they had time to stop by for some dinner and play time! We met up at Cafe Rio and tried to put the kids at one table and the adults at another table so we could chat. It actually worked decently!
After our yummy dinner we decided to head to the park so the kids could run around and get out some energy. They enjoyed some time in the water at the splash pad, too. I left my camera in the car and I'm so wishing I would have brought it. Heather got some really cute pictures of all the boys!
We always laugh at Kyle and Rylan. It takes them so long to warm up to each other and it seems like every time we get together, they finally start playing really well together the last hour!
I'm always trying to talk Kevin into going out to California but it hasn't happened for awhile. I'm so glad Ben and Heather come to Utah so we can see them at least once a year!! I'll keep working on Kevin for a California trip :)

9 Years/ 2 Months
Kevin and I had our 9 year anniversary yesterday! Wahoo! We have a little overnighter getaway we'll be going on sometime in the next couple of months. It was originally planned for this past weekend but we forgot we had other plans. So we'll have our getaway sometime soon.
Anyways, we celebrated last night by going to see Transformers. Kevin's choice, of course. But it was good! I'm thinking that we saw the last Transformers movie for our anniversary that year, too. I wonder what we'll do next year?!
I sure do love my hubby and feel very blessed to have him as mine :)

And yesterday Tyce turned 2 months old. He certainly is a wonderful little baby. I could certainly use more sleep and my house suffers from my neglect since I'd rather spend my time holding my sweet babe. He had his 2 month check up in the morning and had a few times throughout the day when he'd cry out in pain. Poor baby. I gave him some tylenol just before our movie and he was a perfect little boy. At his appointmet he weighed 10 lbs 1 oz (15%), measured 21.75 inches long (12%) and his head was at 13% (which is weird because Rylan and Asher always have heads in like the 90%!!!) So he's very well proportioned and just as cute as can be. He's been smiling the last couple weeks but of course it's becoming more regular and I just can't get enough of it! He still sleeps a lot but wakes up every 3 hours to eat, even at night. At around 5:30 am he gets really fussy and doesn't sleep well for the next couple hours. And it's not like he wants to be awake because he's trying to sleep...I tend to think it's a gas problem. He has a couple times during the day when he'll be awake for a good hour and Rylan and Asher go crazy--they love it! Asher will squeal and say "He open his eyes!" They'll bring him toys to play with and put them right up in his face. His brothers sure do love him and are very kind to him. He gets lots of love from all of us!!

Instead of a vegetable garden, this year we have a weed garden. And it got out of control. I spent over an hour out there this morning and made some good progress. I'm going to have to keep up with it all summer which seems a tiny bit easier when there are good things growing. I didn't plant anything this year though (because of the craziness of having a baby) and since it's on the side of the house I don't see that area very often.
My bro-in-law Adam bought me some plants for our front flower bed. When Kevin got home from work today we got busy and got them planted. They look so nice--I'm excited!
I made a to-do list this morning and felt very productive as I was marking things off my list. Then 5:00 came and I realized I hadn't showered and I hadn't even thought about dinner. Then I looked at my list and went over everything I had done and it didn't seem like I did very much. It made me cry. Plus Asher got in my purse and ate a whole pack of gum. There were several pieces of barely chewed gum in the garbage and he had a giant wad in his mouth. (At least he's good about putting his gum in the garbage.) But that, too made me cry. I think I must be tired :)

Just Playin'
We had our monthly Doyle FHE at Andy's house last night. Of course we had some good times :)
I was getting the boys ready to leave and Asher found my camera. So we had a little fun taking pictures together and I just laughed at this pictures of Asher:
And here's some more silly fun...
Uncle Andy came in and had some fun of his own (okay, okay, maybe the boys were the ones having the fun!)

Swimming Lessons
I had been wanting to get Rylan into swimming lessons, so when Tami called to see if Ry wanted to take lessons with the twins, I immediately said YES! I asked Ry if he wanted to take lessons and he said "Sure". So I asked if he wanted to take lessons with the twins and he said "YES! When do I start, do I get to go today? Where is my swimsuit, should I go put it on?!!!" He was very excited!
There were 6 kids in his class and 3 teachers. The first day they all swam together. The remaining days they were split up--Ry and the twins with one teacher and the other 3 kids with another teacher. The third teacher was usually with Ry's group but would kinda switch off. The lessons were only for a two weeks but I saw a huge improvement in Rylan. I really just wanted him to have fun and be comfortable in the water. He loved it!!
(And a side note...the class before Ry's was for younger kids and there happened to be an 'Asher' there. In talking to his mom I found out there was another 'Asher' in his class. And to make things funnier we discovered that our three Ashers were all born the same year and all born at the same hospital and all born in October! Crazy, don't ya think??!! I think they should become best friends :)
All three boys loved to jump into the pool. Rylan had brief moments of hesitation before each jump but he always wanted to do it again!
Floating around in the life jacket may have been one of Ry's favorite things! Maybe because he felt so safe with it on. He's talked about it over and over again, wanting to get his own life jacket!
He got pretty good at floating on his back and by the end, he could do it all by himself!
Jumping off the diving board---oh, so scary for him! It may have been on the third day when one of the twins asked Tami if they got to jump off the diving board. The twins were waaaaay excited! Rylan asked "Do I get to jump off the diving board? If I don't want to, do I still have to do it?" He was quite nervous about it. So, the first time he did it...he walked to the edge, holding his noodle, and stood there taking deep breaths. He'd take a deep breath and bend his knees like he was gonna jump, and then he'd exhale and look around. His little knees started shaking but he kept trying and trying to get the courage up to just jump. We were all cheering him on but I really could tell he was so scared. I was just happy he was at least trying to be brave! His teacher finally told him he could sit on the diving board and fall in. She practically had to push him into the water where the other teacher caught him. I'm not sure why it was so scary to him since he had jumped into the pool from the side several times. Fast forward to the last day and you'd never know what fear he had on that first day. It still was not his favorite thing to do, but he'd get right up there and jump!
Because of the weather, one day of lessons was re-scheduled for a Saturday. We had other things going on on that Saturday so Rylan's last day was the Friday prior. The last day is the day the kids got to go down the waterslide and Rylan was reeeeaaallly looking forward to it. So...they let Rylan go down (3 times) on Friday before lessons started. I didn't get a picture of it (just video) but he loved it! He had a look of terror on his face each time before splashing into the pool but he came up smiling :) Shortly after his slides down they began lessons and the lightening began as well. Out of the pool, lessons were cancelled for the day. Big Bummer! Kevin even came to see him and his new skills! I was so sad for Rylan that his last day was cut short and he would be missing the next day. Darn weather!
Next year we'll for sure be doing swimming lessons again!
