Friday Fun Day

It has been awhile since we visited the dinosaur museum so we decided we better go. We were surprised to see a new little section just before entering the dinosaur section. It's a little discovery room with lots of fun things!

This was so interesting and funny! You try to shoot a basket while looking through these glasses that have prisms in them. The prisms make it look like the basket is farther to one side than it actually is. So it's funny to watch because one, the glasses are hilarious, and two, the shooter is way off! Your brain is supposed to adjust to the prism shift and after shooting around 15 times, you'll start making the basket. So interesting!

I just love it!

They had these tubes that continuously blow air and you can place items inside of different materials: coffee filters, paper water cups, paper bags, cupcake liners, etc. And then you can see how each items blows up the tube in different ways. We spent a long time here playing. It was fun for us all!

Asher looks a bit sleepy in this picture (with hair a bit disheveled) but he's still cute! :)

There were other things to discover and learn about as well, mostly for age groups older than our boys. But they found ways to be entertained and play even if it wasn't what was intended...

We headed off to the dinosaur museum where the boys had to go through the space tunnel multiple times singing "Twinkle Twinkle". And of course the erosion table is always lots of fun!

We always look forward to our Friday Fun Days and wish they'd come more often :)

I Feed My Boys...

I promise I do. And it's typically sitting at the table with utensils (well, sometimes with utensils!) But why go to the trouble of getting a bowl and spoon when you've got the floor. And forget going the extra mile with the milk--I've been putting way too much effort into breakfast!!

Sleepovers Are For Mommys, Too!

Dinner time!
Pam, Mindy, Jen, Jennifer, Sarah, Jessica

Every month I look forward to book group. Every single month since we started has been a night of fun--and we've been getting together for several years now. Not only do I enjoy reading the wide variety of books that we've read, but I really enjoy each of the girls. Conversations are always going and the food is always fantastic!
We decided to make a full night of all our girl talk and have a sleepover for this month's get together. The night started out at El Gallo Giro in Provo for some yummy Mexican food. I skipped lunch so I could chow down! And of course we needed dessert. We decided on Kneader's and sat around a table long enough that they started mopping around us. Closing time, gotta go. With full bellies we headed to our hotel (thanks to Pam for the set up!!). Whose idea was it to get in swim suits after eating so much? We had a nice dip in the pool and a then a long soak in the hot tub. I think we stayed up till after 1:00am talking and laughing and just having a good time.
Jessica, Sarah, Mindy

Mmmm, Kneaders :) This wasn't my dessert...was it Pam's? I don't know!! But it was good :)

Saturday morning we had breakfast at the hotel and took our time packing up to leave. I came home to two happy boys and a fantastic husband who was mopping the kitchen! Nice! That night we met Mark and Heidi at Bajio and then came back to the house to watch a scary movie. It's not worth mentioning :) We had such a good time. We don't get together with Kev's family near enough and it's always full of laughter every time we do. I seriously think that most of the time I just sit back and laugh without adding anything to the conversation!

This is what I came home to. Pre-mop tricycle fun in the kitchen/dining room. He has loved riding this bike around in the house. He doesn't even know how much more fun it will be riding it outside when it warms up!

Rylan

Ry is so influenced by the things Kevin says and it cracks me up. Kevin said to Rylan "Can I get a 'what-what'?" to which Rylan replied "no. Can I get a witness?"!! I mean seriously? Then Rylan was asking Kevin to chase him around the house, or maybe play hide-n-seek, and Kevin was wanting to do something else. Rylan said "I'll give you five dollars"!! How can you say no to that? (well, coming from Rylan it's hilarious, coming from Kevin it's, well, not as hilarious but still sometimes funny!)
Rylan is also funny in the fact that some days he'd rather throw a fit for 15 mintues, screaming and crying and kicking the couch, than simply say 'please'. That happened this morning. I was upstairs, he was downstairs and I heard him yell 'Mom, I said I want more'...he yelled it. Not just to be heard since we were not in the same room, but more like he was demanding me to serve him immediately. Ugh! So I came downstairs and had a little talk about how we need to use a nice voice and nice words. He refused. I told him he could have more cereal if he would ask nicely. Nope. Instead he started crying and kicking and yelling "I want more". Times like this I have to just tell him when he calms down and decides to talk nicely to mommy I'll help him out. And then I have to leave the room. It's the only way to keep myself calm. He's pretty good and coming to me later and saying "I'm all done. Can I have some more cereal please?". I guess he just needs to freak out every once in awhile...

Can't Beat Cabin Fun!

This year, instead of going to a cabin over Christmas, we went over New Year's. It was perfect (minus missing the Heindorffs)! Each time we stay in a cabin there's always talk of "when are we gonna get our own family cabin?" Someday...someday...

Rylan basically runs off with his cousins and pays me no attention. Sometimes it's nice but it makes me super sad! I'm just glad he can have such a good time with his best friends :)

Asher had lots of fun playing with Abbi's toys, playing with Brooklyn, and getting lots of attention from grandma and grandpa.

We all brought appetizers for our New Year's Eve feast...and what a feast it was! I think we ended up snacking on those appetizers for the rest of our time up there. Grandpa brought some sparkling cider which the kids thought was super cool. One of Kevin's New Year's Resolutions is to not drink any soda for 2010 so he quickly gulped down a Mt. Dew before the ball dropped...such a goon!
Happy New Year!!

So, what do you do while locked in a cabin with your fantastic family?

You: Act Silly
Crazy Kade and Cross Eyed Kaleb!

Is that not the most handsome face you've ever seen?

Play Games (Of course Hokie Six and Rage were also played!)
Grandpa and Battleship were very popular!

Of course the husbands were glued to the Xbox. I'm sure they stayed up wait too late every night playing and Kevin loved it!

Read

Work on a puzzle And you must finish before anything else gets done...even if the puzzle takes you all day

What's the first thing you notice about the puzzle? THE MISSING PIECE! It's just screaming out, right? Okay, now ignore it and look at the good work we did :)
Sleep

Put on shows
The kids sang "The 12 Days of Christmas" for us. The 'triplets' chimed in "5 Golden Rings"...cute! There was another show about Santa and his reindeer, too.

Play with cousins

Stay in pajamas as long as possible
Eat more food than you should
Laugh a lot
Stay up late
Wake up early with babies
And celebrate all the wonderful blessings we have in our lives, looking forward to a new year!!
