June Quotes

Rylan

(June 11, 2012)
I had called everyone down for dinner but nobody was coming. Eventually Rylan came downstairs, but it was to get some scissors, not eat dinner. So I asked him "When do you want to eat dinner?" To which he replied "Ummmm, I don't know. Maybe tomorrow or next week."

(June 20, 2012)
Ry: "Why do a lot of things we buy say "Made in China"?"

(June 22, 2012)
I was trying to take a picture of Rylan and he was just being goofy, not exactly what I wanted the picture to be.
Me: "Ry, stop doing that so I can take a picture."
Ry: "But it's funny."
Me: "No it's not."
Ry: "Then why are you laughing?"
Good point!!

(June 27, 2012)
While driving...
Me: "Is Tyce asleep?"
Rylan: "It looks like he's sleeping but there are two details so I know he's awake. His eyes are open and he's moving."
Ha! I'd say those are two pretty big details!!

Ry: "Why does Tami have a dog?"
Me: "So the kids can play with him and it's just fun to have a dog around."
Ry: "And so he can eat mice?"
Me: "No, cats eat mice, not dogs."
Ry: "Why not?
Me: "Dogs just don't eat mice. They eat different food than cats. It's like saying 'Why doesn't Rylan like to eat leaves like a dinosaur?'"
Ry: "Phhh, I do."

Asher
(June 26, 2012)
I was laying on the couch, reading. Tyce crawled over so I picked him up and then Asher came over and sat on me as well. Asher was poking me and moving around. Kevin said "Alright, who's bugging mom?" With his fingers in my nose and mouth Asher said "Not me." I started laughing and totally serious, almost hurt, Asher said "What? I'm not!"
He's right...he was entertaining me, not bugging me :)

(June 27, 2012)
We were driving to Tami's house and on their city sign there is an elk. As we drove by it Asher said "I saw a goat sign!"

We had a super fun day yesterday. It took awhile for us to get ready and get all our chores done so it wasn't until after lunch that we piled in the car for some fun. I mentioned to Kacy the other day that I was going to take the boys to the dinosaur museum (we are on letters D and X this week since they have dentist appts today). So I called her on our way and she was game!
While we waited for Kacy to come we hung out in the gift shop and the boys found about 163 things they wanted to buy! Tyce played with a really cute meerkat stuffed animal that I wanted to buy, but then I would have had to buy something for everyone...so we bought nothing (which was for the best!) When we saw Kacy, Sydney, and Finn we left the gift shop and ventured into dino land. (Kirra didn't join us because she was playing with a friend.)
It was a perfect time at the museum. All the kids were perfect and when one was ready to move on, the others agreed to follow. We got to talk, explore, dig, play, laugh, create, and have fun!
Ry wanted me to take a picture of his land. "And make sure you get the water in the picture!"
Goofy faced Asher. He's got such a great smile when it's not forced!

At about 4:30 we left the dino museum and headed over to the Children's Gardens. I called Kev on my way and told him to meet us over there after he got off work. The kids changed into their swimsuits and started out playing in the water. It was a bit windy and several times they would come over and tell us they were cold and then run back for more water fun. My boys were hungry hungry hippos, wanting to eat every bit of food in our bag, which they did! Kev showed up about the time the kids were wanting to go to the bear cave. He agreed to sit with Tyce who was playing in the water, while Kacy and I took the kids around the gardens. They played in the bear cave, on the climbing apparatus, and then Finn and Asher ran off and lead us to a part of the gardens we've never seen. It must be new! There was a small waterfall/river that lead to a small pool where they played, floating "boats" down. There was a huge sandbox down there, too, which they played in. They went back and forth between the two while Kacy and I got to sit on a bench and talk. Eventually we pulled them away and started walking to see the fish pond. That's when Kev met up with us. I guess we were gone quite a long time! After a bit more playing we decided it was time to go. I had told Kev I thought we'd only be at the gardens for about an hour. I was wrong. We were there for over 2 hours! It was already 6:45 when we got in the car. Wow, the day flew by and it was all so fun!
I had put dinner in the crock pot before I left so I didn't want to stop for dinner, even though we were all super hungry. But Ry did talk us into stopping at Macey's for some Dunford Donuts for our letter 'D'. We came home and realized we forgot to get Kev's car at Shopko (carpool stop) so we turned right around. Finally we got home to eat our dinner and donuts. Rylan golfed out back and Asher played out there as well, while Kev adjusted sprinklers and fetched balls that had gone over the fence. I gave Tyce a bath and tried to clean up the kitchen. Then the big boys took a shower.

The boys have been going to bed so late these days. Ry is really taking advantage of summer! It has seriously been a 10:00 bed time. Good thing my kids sleep in!!

Sleeping Babies

I'm always afraid of watching for too long, afraid to wake them up. But I sure do love to watch my babies sleep so peacefully.

Milestones

(May 30, 2012)
Tyce started pulling up to things! About 20 minutes after I put him to bed tonight I heard him screaming. I went in to his room to see that he had pulled himself up. I remember Ry and Asher doing this, too. It seems like they don't quite know how to just fall down onto their little bums and they are stuck standing up! I had to hold Tyce to calm him down and then I wrapped him up again for bed.

Rylan's Story

On our way up to Sandy one day I had Rylan make up a story and I wrote it down. Here it is: Once upon a time there was a ball. And the ball saw a Christmas tree. The ball went up the tree. But there was one problem. There was a train going fast as light around the tree. So, the ball was a bouncy ball and the bouncy ball jumped up over the train. And then the ball bounced up into the Christmas tree. Then he saw lots of stuff in the Christmas tree. And one day the ball went to go up in the Christmas tree again and the Christmas tree was gone. So the ball made a big Christmas tree in his house. He found all the stuff that was on the Christmas tree and he put it all on his Christmas tree. The tree was the same height. One day he woke up and his Christmas tree was gone. Someone made tons of Christmas tree. So many that they would never be gone. One day the ball woke up and all the trees were gone. The end. I liked that he knew he needed to have a 'problem' in the story. And here's a quote from Rylan, written on the same paper. Must have been the same car ride. Ry: "I want a dinosaur pillow pet like Asher." Me: "Your birthday is coming up. Maybe you can ask for one for your birthday." Ry: "No. I'm asking you for one now."
