For a quick Memorial Day getaway we met up with my sister Tami and her fam at a cabin in Timber Lakes. They went up Saturday afternoon but I was busy doing some food for a wedding reception (with loads of help from my mom and sisters. What would I do without my fam? Love you guys!!) We had planned on going up Saturday night after I dropped off the food at the reception, but by the time I got home and fed Asher it was getting late. Instead Rylan asked to play guitars. We pulled out the two guitars and the ukulele and made beautiful music (to the ears of a 3 year old anyways. I'm sure any neighbor that could hear was searching for ear plugs!).
Notice my little ukulele sitting on the couch...no, I do not know how to play :) Since we already had a substitute for our primary class we headed up to the cabin Sunday morning. Kevin and I agreed that it didn't feel right not going to church but with 1:00 church and plans to already be at the cabin we skipped out anyway. Shame on us. We deserve the guilt. And we even missed out on hearing of some changes in our ward...new member in the bishopric and lots of new callings.

So we got to the cabin before lunch and that's when the relaxing began. While there we ate lots of food and played a couple rounds of the bean game and one game of "Settlers". Poor Kevin was disappointed that he didn't win a single game. (Should I not record this for posterity? Yes, I should because Kevin is very competitive and does in fact usually win his fair share of games. Not this weekend!! Sorry Kev!) But he did tie a game of beans with Garren.

Rylan had the time of his life with his cousins. Usually while at home he follows me around the house doing what I do or begging me to play with him. While at the cabin I was suddenly non-existent and much less important. He went to bed with the twins that night and when Kev and I were ready for bed Kevin moved Rylan into bed with us. When Ry woke up Monday morning he didn't even blink his eyes at me. He jumped out of bed and headed out to find his best friends. I'll admit that by the time we left on Monday afternoon I was missing my little Ry guy.

Rylan fell asleep on the way home and we had a hard time waking him up so we decided to end our holiday with a nice family walk. I don't think I share my love with our walking trail enough. I LOVE IT!
So, that was our fun weekend!
