Yesterday...Tyce woke up at 5:00 and while I was feeding him I knew I should be mentally preparing to go to the gym. But I went to bed with a headache and my head was still POUNDING so I opted for some ibuprofen and a few extra hours of sleep. When I woke up later my head still hurt but it was feeling much better so I was happy with my decision :)
I got Kev's lunch ready so he could go to work then I got Rylan ready for school with some help from Kevin. I started to feed Tyce when I realized I hadn't laid out Ry's clothes so I halfway directed Kevin and he got it done.
After taking Ry to school we came home and I turned the tv on for Asher. Jessica loaned me 'Crossed' which I've been on hold for at the library and I was desperately wanting to just read all day. He was happy to watch a couple shows while I read and read and really got into the book. So basically for the rest of the day I'd get the boys started on something (a game, a chore, homework...) to occupy them so I could read! They played really well together today and I was so glad :)
I did take a break to work with them on cleaning the toilets since that was on their 'Activity Chart' today. And I also took a break to go to the gym at 3:00. The boys are so great there, I only worry about them a little bit :)
Last Friday I ran just over 5 miles on the treadmill. Today while running I had told myself I'd just run until 'Ellen' was over. As her show was ending I was at about 4.5 miles and wondered if I could run a 10k in less than an hour. I had walked for a few minutes as a warm up so I knew I'd need to run a bit faster if I wanted to beat that 60 minute goal. I usually run at 6.0 with some sprints here and there so I turned it up to 6.5 and watched some 'Project Runway'. I did have to run for 1 minute at 7.5 but guess what? I ran 6.2 miles in 59 minutes 50 seconds! Ha ha--10 seconds to spare. Yea me!! I was happy with myself and excited to try to beat my time, maybe next week? I figure knocking off a few seconds each time is progress so we'll see how it goes! And surely this will help with my half marathon time, yes?
So I did a few leg exercises after my run and then picked up the boys who were happy as could be. Asher and Rylan were playing with play dough and Tyce was chillin' in the swing. There is a candy machine just outside the playroom and of course my boys always ask to get jelly beans or m&m's. But for some reason I always forget my quarters :) So I told them they could have a starburst when they got home (leftover from Halloween! They were the last two so now we'll start working on the leftover twizzlers. I had bought some trick or treat candy but we ended up being out of town for my grandpa's funeral on Halloween so we have a TON of candy. It's been hidden from my boys but it seriously is never ending. I may have to start taking it to Young Women's or passing it out to the neighbor kids as they come home from school!)
Anyways, on the way home Rylan started being super ornery. I warned him I was going to take away his starburst unless he started acting like the sweet boy he is. Then he head butted Asher. "Okay, last chance. You better start being nice" I warned him. "No, YOU start being nice" he shouted back, which was of course crossing the line and he lost his starburst. Ugh! Of course the rest of the way home and for the next 30 minutes he was throwing a fit and coming up with outrageous threats, the worst of them being "I'm going to kill myself if you don't give me my starburst!" Really? Oh, to even write that out makes me sick. Why would he say something like that? So I had a talk with him about never ever saying something like that again. And the thought came to my mind that he needed some mommy time. So we sat down with some books and read together and he was such a pleasant boy after that.
Rylan and Asher looked at books while I got a quick dinner thrown together. Kevin and I had chicken, veggies and beans. Rylan had a jam sandwich, yogurt, veggies and beans. Asher had chicken nuggets. That's not usually how I work but occasionally it happens.
Rylan was in charge of FHE. He gave us a lesson on how we were spirits in Heaven and we came to earth for a body. He also taught us about some good and bad choices. Ry, Asher, and Kevin drew and colored pictures of trains while I fed Tyce. Then it was past time for bed and I let Kevin put the boys to bed while I read some more in my book :)
Kev and I watched a couple shows together before going to bed. I finished my book as Kevin tried to sleep. My book was so good! I liked the first book ('Matched') fine, but I really liked this book so much more! (Maybe because I read 'Matched' just after I had finished 'Hunger Games' so I was really wanting more action.) Now I can't wait for the third one to come out!!
Between my fun run and reading my book, I had a great day!!
