Rylan
(November 1, 2012)
We got to the end of the song "The Farmer in the Dell" at music class. His teacher asked who was going to be the cheese and Rylan pointed at her and said "YOU, you're cheesy!"

Asher was pushing the chairs all around trying to make a chair train. It was right as I was finishing up dinner and trying to get it on the table (and the boys moving the chairs around has always been a small annoyance to me :) I asked Asher to stop moving the chairs so we could sit down to eat and he whined "But I'm trying to make a train."
Me: "Why don't you guys play with toys. Why do you have to play with things in the house that are not meant to be toys?"
Ry: "Because we're kids and that's what we do."
Ha! So true!! Wisdom from a 6 year old.
And then he said "We don't know much."

I was quizzing Rylan on his piano notes with some flash cards. After I had quizzed him on one or two he said "You're never gonna trick me! Probably not...well, maybe..."

Ry: "This is so awesome. You know why?"
Me: "Why?"
Ry: "It just is."

Ry and Kev were hitting golf balls outside in the front yard. Kevin hit the ball displaying proper golf form and the ball went about 30 yards. Rylan ran and measured the distance with a rock. Rylan then put the ball in the exact place Kevin had hit it and, using the techniques learned, hit the ball a bit further. Ry was so proud! He wanted to do it again. So this time, Kev really swung and the ball went very far, much further than Rylan had ever anticipated. With his hands in the air Rylan said with a hint of bitterness, "Really? (long pause) ... Really?"

I was out with my sisters and got home after Kev had put the boys to bed. Asher and Ry were still awake so I went to say goodnight to them. Asher grabbed my hand and said "I like you".
So sweet :)

Asher is great at rhyming and he loves to play rhyming games. While playing today he said "Mom, bomb". I said "Mom, Tom". He got a little smirk on his face and said "Tom, Jerry" and started laughing so hard it made me and Tyce laugh. Oh, he's a cutie!!

We had talked a bit about voting. I voted while Asher was at preschool so when I picked him up he asked about my "I Voted" sticker. Later at home he asked "Did you vote for the United States?"
Me: "Yes, I voted for the president of the United States."
Asher: "The United States is football."
I have no idea what that means but I still thought it was cute. The US and football definitely have a strong tie.

Asher: "What day is it?"
Me: "Monday"
Asher: "I miss daddy on Mondays. Only on Mondays."
This boy loves his daddy so much...every day of the week!!
(November 24, 2012)
We had some leftover popcorn from the movie. (We saw Rise of the Guardians and I thought it was really cute!) Asher asked Kevin if he could have some. Kevin said 'no'. Asher turned to me and said "I'll obey you everyday if you let me have popcorn."
If only that were true :)

I bought some apple seconds awhile ago and they've started to rot :( I threw away the rotting apples and made some applesauce with the rest. When it was finished I gave a bowl of yummy, freshly made applesauce to Asher. He said "Why is this called weird applesauce?"
Me, laughing: "It's not weird. It's just normal applesauce."
Asher: "Did you make it with the dirty apples?"
I remember Ry calling a rotten apple a 'dirty apple'... or was it a rotting banana? We've been eating homemade applesauce for a few years now but this
batch was a little chunkier than normal. I'm guessing that's why he was
saying it was weird?!

While playing minecraft on the ipod...
Asher: "Sheepy sheepy, come to daddy"
