October Quotes

Rylan

(October 14, 2012)
Rylan gets to go on a field trip for school tomorrow (to Scera theater to see 'The Adventures of Flat Stanley'). He's been so excited about it. Before he could fall asleep tonight (in the car on our way home from family dinner) he had to talk about it--what the weather was going to be, if he needed a jacket, about his lunch...
I mentioned I would put his lunch in a brown paper sack rather than his lunch box and he asked why. I said it would be less worry because he could just throw it away and he wouldn't have to worry about keeping track of it at the park and on the bus. We talked about a few more important items and then he got quiet. After a few minutes he said "Mom you're smart for doing that."
Me: "For doing what?"
Ry: "Putting my lunch in a sack instead of my fire truck lunch box."
I'm glad my son can see my wisdom :)

Ry: "Asher, are you building a fort? Cool. I know how to build lots of different kinds of forts. I'm a great fort builder."

Asher
(October 3, 2012)
Asher and I had cut out some dinosaurs yesterday from a coloring book. He carefully put them in a ziploc bag and then hours later couldn't find it. This morning I was cleaning up in their room and found the bag so I put it on top of the bookcase. I later told him I found it and as he was running up the stairs to get it he paused and said "Mom, if ever you find something I'm looking for, then you are my friend. Today you are my friend!"
Later he came to me and gave me a hug and said "You are always my friend."

Rylan will often tell me "I love you more" and then I'll say "No, I love you more" to which he'll reply "I love you the most". It goes on and on and eventually one of us will say "I love you infinity". We were having this 'conversation' and after each of us several times saying "I love you infinity plus one" or "I love you infinity plus infinity", Asher piped up and said "Mom, I love you one hundred!" He seemed so proud of himself for saying such a big number!

Rylan took off his pants after playing in the sandbox. He was making a honey sandwich and Kevin was videotaping the boys, forgetting Ry had no pants on. After watching the video back (we of course commented on the no-pants thing) Asher was laughing and asked "Why doesn't Ry Ry have any pants on? He's funny forever!"

(October 17, 2012)
We were out on a walk and Asher wanted to get out of the stroller and walk by me. He only had socks on so I asked him to take off his socks and walk in bare feet. As we were walking along he asked "Why are they called bear feet?"
I laughed, just imagining  what was going through his mind...picturing himself walking along with these big, furry bear feet!!! So I explained to him how bare and bear sound the same but they mean different things and 'bare' feet means you don't have socks or shoes on, blah blah blah.
A bit later in our walk he decided he wanted to push the stroller with me while we ran as fast as we could. Once we got to our house he said "Wow, we have fast bear feet!"
(Okay, I guess I don't know if he meant 'bear' or 'bare' but the image in my mind was too funny!!"

Kev was getting ready to leave for work. It was early and still dark outside.
Asher: "Dad, where are you going?"
Kev: "To work."
Asher: "In the night time???"
