A Memorable Weekend

Sunday was such an exciting day. It's tradition to meet at the Doyle home for lunch on Sunday between conference sessions. Every conference in October Kevin's mom makes apples and caramel fondu. For lunch this year John and Aubrey (Kev's bro and his wife) made a cream cheese fondu that Kevin's family feasts over. It was delicious!

The weather was perfect so the kids played outside most of the day, raking the leaves and jumping in them and burying themselves in them. They also climbed the apple tree and picked apples. They were looking for the bad apples to throw over the fence, but there were lots of tasty looking apples!

After the second session of conference Kevin's parents were set apart as missionaries. All the brothers participated...it was so neat! We spent the rest of the afternoon visiting and playing games and just enjoying each other's company. We took a large family picture while everyone was present. We were all there around dinner time so Kevin's bro Andy whipped up some yummy spaghetti. We didn't leave until late, after saying farewell to Kevin's parents. It's hard to believe the time has come for their mission. When they got the call it seemed like they had forever until they would leave. And now they are gone! They are in the MTC in Provo until the 17th and then off to Geneva Switzerland they will go for 18 months. Rylan will be 4 when they get home....4!!! It seems so crazy but we are so excited for the wonderful experiences they will have. We've already heard from them several times about the MTC and they seem to be adjusting quite well and relishing each moment. What great in-laws I have!

Kevin had Monday off so it felt like part of the weekend. We ran some errands in the morning and that evening we went up the canyon to see the changing leaves. We didn't quite see all the red I was hoping for but a few trees here and there satisfied me. Rylan was continuously searching out the river so he could throw rocks. That boy LOVES the water!
