There have been two questions Rylan has asked me recently that cracked me up. "Is it today?"...(me) is what today? (Ry) "Right now, is it today?". We then had a lesson on today, yesterday and tomorrow.
Then he asked me "Mom, are you a mom?" Well of course silly, I'm your mom!!
Quiznos used to have these great masks in their kids meals. We still have one because it is just hilarious and Rylan laughs every time someone puts one on! Rylan and I made a cat mask the other day but he didn't think it was as funny.
I always want to go up into the mountains to see the leaves changing. So Friday night I tried to talk Kevin into going on a hike or drive with the boys to see Fall in the mountains. For some reason we ended up at the park by Spanish Fork reservoir. Rylan had a blast! Hmmm, maybe this weeks we'll be able to really get in the mountains to see the color before it's gone!
In Asher news...This past Monday he had an appointment with the helmet doctor (or orthotist, but for some reason "helmet doctor" is easier). Another 6 weeks with the helmet. I was a bit relieved really because at 11 months Asher is still not crawling and he spends quite a bit of time on his back. He does the army crawl but he also lays on his back and pushes with his feet. Maybe because the helmet is smooth and gives him more speed! Anyways, I was worried that his head would go flat again. My mom thinks he's not crawling yet because the helmet is too heavy :) (Well, the doctor kind of agreed with her but I'm still not sold. I mean really, he can hold his head up just fine.) I can't tell you really what all the numbers mean but a nicely rounded head will be in the 70's and Asher started out in the 90's. Right now he's in the low 80's, so we're close! Width wise his head has not grown at all and length wise it's grown one full centimeter--that's good news! I was hoping he'd have it off by his one year birthday but that's not going to be the case. Oh well, no big deal. Oh, but last Sunday a girl in my ward stopped me in the hall because her daughter had an appointment to see if she needs a helmet and this mom was all stressed and frazzled over it. I seriously know how she feels. I used to be stressed and frazzled myself. I tried my best to ease her worries and calm her fears because this whole helmet thing truly has been no big deal. After about 45 minutes of questions and answers I think she was feeling better about it all. I should give her a call and see how the appointment went...

What cute questions Ry has.. so funny.. I love this age.. the things they come up with or amaze you with.
I wouldn't worry about Asher too. I know it's hard not to but kids go at their own pace and I think a lot of the times the second child goes a lot slower b/c we tend to hold them a lot more too.. does that make sense? I know with my cousin.. her 1st was very rough when she had her 2nd.. so she was always holding her 2nd b/c she didn't want #1 to body slam him and just b/c he's the baby and didn't want him to grow up. So he didn't walk until he was 14-15 months.. she just figured it was that b/c he wasnt on the ground as much to strenghten those muscles.. but they all learn at their own rate.
sorry to make such long comments and to add.. it's not like he doesn't want to get places. .he try and going for it. . that's when I would worry if he was just still laying there not showing interest. Not that I'm a professional or anything.. that's just what I remember reading or hearing a doctor say once.
while eating breakfast this morning Damon told me that he wants to watch conference today, so he can learn more things. I almost fell off my chair. It was so nice to hear him say that! How lucky that girl has you to talk to about her helmet situation for her daughter. I remember how stressed you were on your first post about it. I'm so glad it's not a stressful thing for you anymore.

and I tend to agree with your Mom, I think Asher isn't walking or even crawling much cause the helmet's too heavy. lol
I'm glad you did go with the helmet, we had the choice with Thatcher, but the Dr. said he thought his head would 'probably' round out on his own by the time he was 3...so we decided against the helmet...well, Thatcher will be 3 in December and it's still obviously flat on the left side! arrrgggg, that's just gonna be his head shape for life now! Dr.'s...what do they know anyway? ;)
I should have had you bring that mask last night!! I'm so excited to get to your pictures - I had more than I thought turn out. There is one that is my new all-time favorite - I need to put it on my website. I'll let you know when it is up!
Okay, I DEMAND more posts because you always make me laugh (usually when I need it the most)...I'm so lucky to have you as my sister and we can talk at any time. I am sure you calmed the girl's fears and gave her a reality check as well as a sense of peace. Oh, and Rylan sure is in tune! We played BINGO with church words and Kirra just ate all her candy, silly billy!
