My hubby celebrated his birthday on Saturday (the 9th). Several weeks ago I started asking him what he wanted to do for his birthday and every time I asked, he told me he just wanted to play Xbox with his brothers. He was really hoping I would buy him an Xbox and invite his brothers over, but I liked my idea better...his brother already has an Xbox so I invited ourselves over to their house for a party! No need to buy an Xbox now!
We invited Kevin's family over to his brother John's house. The kids played outside in the sandbox, slip n slide, kiddie pool, etc. while we hung out and chatted in the shade. The boys all went inside to play after we ate our lunch of pizza and caesar salad. (The salad was from Quiznos...if you've never had their caesar salad, you've GOT to try it--delicious!) Kevin opened a few gifts...a card with money from his parents and a new pair of soccer shoes from himself! I made a rich chocolate cake that I've been wanting to make for months now. I spent a lot of time and money on it, and it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. It was good if you like semi-sweet chocolate. For those of us who are milk chocolate fans, this cake was too rich. Oh well, the ice cream was good!
After several hours of Xbox playing, John and Aubrey (his wife) had to leave for a ward party. So everyone was kicked out and we came home with a very sleepy Rylan who had tons of fun with his cousins.
We didn't have any plans for Saturday night but we were all so tired. So after a "Happy Birthday" phone call from Ben, and a quick run up the street for a burger and fries (yes, it was a day full of junk food), we decided to hang out at home and just watch the Olympics. Oh, and Kevin opened his gift from me--a much needed pair of new shoes. And they look good on him, too! Thanks Heather for reminding Ben it was Kevin's birthday. What a surprise!
Who else is totally enjoying the Olympics? I've loved watching the beach volleyball, swimming, gymnastics...all of it!

Looks like you had a fun day! We still need to get together to play games! By the way, we're enjoying the Olympics here, too. Randy says that's all we're allowed to watch for the next 2 weeks or so.

Happy birthday to Kevin! What kind of cupcakes does he like? He probably won't get them until the family get-together, but I've gotta plan!
Happy Birthday Kevin! Looks like a fun filled weekend. Wish I could have tried your cake it sounds delicious! We have also been loving the Olympics! I always think of you when I watch the gymnastics!
